From Market Stall to National TV: Our RoniB's Kitchen Moment with James Martin

Sometimes the most extraordinary opportunities come disguised as ordinary conversations. This is the story of how a chance encounter at our local market led to RoniB's Kitchen appearing on one of Britain's most beloved cooking shows—and why it perfectly captures everything we stand for.

It was just another chilly morning in late 2024 at Caversham market. We were doing what we love most—sharing the vibrant flavours of Filipino cuisine with our loyal customers, one jar at a time.

Then something extraordinary happened.

A friendly woman approached our stall, her eyes going over each of our products on display. She asked thoughtful questions about our sauces and marinades, clearly intrigued by what we had to offer. But it was her casual comment that made me stop and think: "My team would love these."

Curious, I had to ask—What team?

Her answer left me speechless. She was a producer for James Martin's Saturday Morning Show on ITV.

The Journey from Market to Screen

What followed felt like a beautiful whirlwind. In December, we received the email we'd been hoping for—the team had fallen in love with our products. By January, filming was scheduled for March, and after a quick Zoom test run, our episode was set to air on 12th April 2025.

Our Filipino Flavours Collection Box took centre stage, showcasing the heart of our brand:

  • Banana Ketchup - Our sweet and tangy signature sauce
  • Garlic Chilli Oil - Perfect heat with aromatic depth
  • Black Bean Chilli Paste - Rich umami with a spicy kick
  • Adobo Sauce - The soul of Filipino cooking
  • Kalamansi Marmalade - Bright citrus with tropical flair

A Moment to Remember

Watching James Martin work alongside Michelin-starred chef James Close and pastry chef Maria Close was surreal enough. But seeing them taste and genuinely enjoy our Banana Ketchup, Garlic Chilli Oil, and Kalamansi Marmalade? That was pure magic.

James crafted a gorgeous mackerel dish with a tropical salad that paired beautifully with our bold Filipino flavours. It was incredible to witness how our products—born from family recipes and market stall dreams—enhanced the creations of such culinary talents on national television.

The entire production team was incredibly welcoming and supportive. Despite the cameras and the pressure, we genuinely had so much fun sharing our story and our passion for Filipino food.
